The stiffness of toothbrush bristles have a great influence for the cleaning efficiency and the perception of the consumer. The measurement of stiffness enables the classification of the
toothbrush in soft, medium and hard and ensures a consistent quality of the products.
The force of the filaments is measured during a brush stroke and normalized to the bristle area. The number of strokes, stroke length and speed can be set.

An automatic calculation of the bending stiffness and classification takes place when the bristle area is entered.
An additional sensor enables the precise positioning of the brush field at the height of the ISO8627 grid.
DIN ISO 22254
The brush head is positioned over 5 rods. The brush is loaded with a force of 5 N.
The results are in N / cm ^ 2. The brush can be classified into three classes: soft, medium, and hard.
DIN ISO 8627
The DIN ISO 8627 has been replaced by DIN ISO 22254. Some countries require a measurement of toothbrushes with DIN ISO 8627 for import.
The filaments of the brush are lowered in a defined distance to a grid.
The force of the filaments resistance to the grid is measured.
The result is normalized to the bristle surface of the toothbrush, in cN / mm ^ 2.
The brush is classified into three classes: soft, medium, and hard.
